Choosing the right school is one of the most important decisions you’ll make for your son. We’re honoured you’re considering Wollemi College. Whether you’re just exploring or ready to take the next step, we’re here to support and guide you through the process.

Wollemi is more than a school. It’s a community that partners with parents to raise young men of character, faith, and purpose. We’re proud to see growing interest in what we offer and we do our best to welcome every family who aligns with our mission.

  • Sons of Alumni of the Pared Schools
  • Families actively practising the Catholic faith
  • Families who uphold and support the values of our school

We encourage all prospective families to read our Enrolment Policy and Parent Code of Conduct for more detailed information.

Testimonials

“‘It takes a village to raise a child.’ This rings true when talking about Wollemi College. We are grateful to be part of the Wollemi community, due to collaborative efforts between teachers, mentors and families. The mentoring system is fantastic and sets the foundations for strong character for our boys. Strongly recommend.”

S and L Tu'ipulotu

“This school is a hidden treasure. All staff members are dedicated to ensuring your son reaches his full potential both academically and spiritually. All staff will always go out of their way to chat to the parents about the child’s progress. I could not recommend this school highly enough.”

Hilda Akl

“We can not speak highly enough for all the highly dedicated and enthusiastic Wollemi staff, including our son’s teacher and mentor. The mentorship program was a huge drawcard in our decision to send our son to Wollemi, as he is able to build a relationship with, seek guidance, and work with his dedicated mentor on a range of personal development areas including his character, social, spiritual and academic development and always have a dedicated ‘go to’ person.”

Clare McGrath

“Wollemi College provides a mentoring system that helps both the students and parents become better through a solid focus on the Catholic faith and growth in virtues. The boys are treated as the men they are expected to become and are helped to grow in virtue. The school also makes available daily Holy Mass and Confession. We are grateful for a school such as Wollemi College and to the Pared Foundation for establishing these schools.”

FAQs

How many streams are there in each cohort?

From Year 2 to Year 12, Wollemi has two streams per cohort. In Kindergarten and Year 1, there are four streams in total, as these early years are co-educational at our Infants campus: two streams of boys who progress to Wollemi in Year 2, and two streams of girls who continue at Montgrove.

Our cohort sizes are intentionally limited to two streams to preserve the quality and depth of our one-on-one Mentoring System. Every student is paired with a dedicated mentor; a member of staff who meets with the student fortnightly and with their parents each term. This structure allows us to provide truly personalised support, both academically and in character formation.

When is the best time to submit an expression of interest/enquiry?

You’re welcome to submit an expression of interest at any time. It’s the first step in discovering whether Wollemi is the right school for your family. After submitting your enquiry, you’ll be on our list to be invited to attend one of our upcoming Open Days. If no dates are currently available to book, you’ll be on our list to be notified when the next Open Day opens for registration.

When can we complete the application form?

Application forms are made available to families who attend an Open Day and are sent via email on the same day. Each round of application review and interviews is linked to a two-week submission window following the Open Day, so it’s important to complete and return your form within that timeframe.

What are the chances of securing a place in Year 7?

Year 7 is our most competitive intake year, and places are limited. With only two classes per cohort, we do not add additional streams in High School. Once a year group is full in Primary, further applications are placed on a waitlist.

To give your son the best opportunity to secure a place, we strongly encourage families to consider enrolling from Kindergarten or early Primary. Early enrolment not only increases your chances of a confirmed place for High School but also allows your son to benefit from Wollemi’s formative character education from the beginning of his school journey.

Do you accept students from other faith backgrounds, and is Religious Education compulsory?

Yes, Wollemi College warmly welcomes families of all faith backgrounds, provided there is a shared alignment with our core values and approach to education. While we are an Independent Catholic school, we do not require students to be Catholic to enrol.

That said, Religious Education is a compulsory part of our curriculum for all students. Faith-based activities such as classroom instruction, school prayer, and weekly or daily Mass are integrated into school life and form an essential part of our identity and mission. Primary students attend Mass weekly, while Secondary students have the option to attend daily Mass or participate in silent reading.

While we welcome students of all faiths, it’s important that you, as parents, are comfortable with your child participating in these aspects of school life, as they are central to the formation and community experience we offer.

How does Wollemi College support students with diverse learning needs, whether they need extra help or greater academic challenge?

Wollemi’s Diverse Learning Department provides assistance to boys across all year levels in a variety of ways that seek to develop boys’ full academic, social and emotional potential. This could include such support as literacy programs, assignment support, smaller group sessions and social emotional support.

The College also provides a quality education for all students, including those who are academically gifted or talented so they may be given the opportunity to be extended and enriched. The Honours Program is an enrichment and extension program primarily designed for students who are already excelling in their normal class work.

What is Wollemi’s mobile phone policy, and do you address social media use with students?

At Wollemi, we want students to be fully present: in their learning, their friendships, and the wider life of the school. To support this, all mobile phones and digital devices (including smartwatches and music players) are handed in at the start of each day and stored securely until home time. This policy applies across all school settings, including excursions, camps, and sports days.

Our approach encourages students to build real connections and develop focus without the constant pull of digital distractions. We also work in partnership with parents and mentors to guide students in the safe and responsible use of technology (both at school and at home) including conversations about social media, screen time, and digital habits.

What time does school commence and end each day?

Primary classes start at 8:40am and end at 3:10pm.

Secondary classes start at 8:40am and end at 3:25pm.

We recommend arriving a few minutes early to allow students time to settle in before the day begins.

What sporting and co-curricular opportunities are available for students at Wollemi?

Wollemi offers a diverse range of sports to support physical development, teamwork, and student wellbeing. Students have access to opportunities in athletics, swimming, cross country, basketball, football, tennis, volleyball and cricket.

Co-curricular opportunities include choir, chess, debating, public speaking, arts, and music.
