About Wollemi

Meet Our Headmaster

James Ramos

Headmaster, Wollemi College

Wollemi College is guided by a Headmaster who leads with clarity, conviction and a deep commitment to character.

Mr James Ramos brings decades of educational experience and a strong connection to the Pared community. Formerly Head of Primary at our brother school, Redfield College, he was appointed to lead Wollemi in 2021—bringing his expertise in boys’ education and character formation to Western Sydney.

James is a dedicated educator and experienced mentor, shaped by his belief in the potential of every student. He sees education as a partnership grounded in trust—where schools support families to raise young men of virtue, faith and resilience. Under his leadership, Wollemi continues to grow as a place where character is formed, faith is deepened and every boy is called to become his best self.

Committed Partner

Since 1999, Wollemi College has been part of the Pared Foundation (Pared), a network of Independent Catholic schools born from a simple yet profound conviction: that parents are the first and most important educators of their children.

Inspired by the vision of Saint Josemaría Escrivá, Pared pioneered a personalised approach to schooling in Australia, placing the family at the very heart of education.

Today, Wollemi continues this mission — preparing young men not just for success, but for lives of faith, leadership, and charity.

Growing Faith

The world doesn’t just need success stories — it needs saints: men of courage, wisdom, and heart. At Wollemi College, we call every young man to a higher purpose. Rooted in Catholic teaching and inspired by Saint Josemaría, we prepare boys to lead, serve, and transform society — not someday, but now.

Our school chaplaincy (who are priests of Opus Dei, a Personal Prelature of the Catholic Church) provides spiritual support to students, parents, staff, alumni, and friends of our community. By providing regular access to the sacraments, personal guidance, and friendship, our chaplains help nurture a faith that is lived, not just learned.

Our faith formation offers:

  • Opportunities for personal spiritual guidance and mentorship
  • A focus on building habits of prayer, virtue, and service
  • Support for developing leadership rooted in faith and character
  • An invitation to live with intention, courage, and grace

While deeply rooted in the Catholic tradition, Wollemi welcomes students of all faith backgrounds who respect our values and seek to grow into the best version of themselves.

Character Education

At the heart of our mission is helping students grow daily into what we call the Wollemi Man: a person of integrity, courage, service, and faith.

Virtues: The foundation of our approach is encouraging students to live out virtue (good habits) such as sound judgement, self-control, responsibility, and courage, in the classroom, on the field, and at home.

Motto: Each week, students focus on a class motto to practise in daily life. These mottos help reinforce practical ways to grow in character and consider the needs of others.

Family Partnership: Families are invited to reinforce each week’s virtue at home, creating a consistent message between school and family life.

Whole-School Approach: From our teachers’ example to curriculum choices, character development is woven into the fabric of school life.
