Last night I heard the expression ‘every generation has its own distractions’. A large new distraction is now in the game. Facebook and other such social networking platforms may be good in theory and a boon to keep in touch with far flung relatives and friends, but for an increasing number of students they are, at best, a head-filling waste of time, and at worst, addictive and/or an outlet for uninhibited language and images, and for malicious gossip.
